Butch Trucks has died at the age of 69.

Butch Trucks has died at the age of 69.

Here at Grateful Music we are devastated to have to report that Butch Trucks has passed away. Butch was scheduled to play at Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival in May. They actually broke the sad news by posting the news of Butch's passing on Facebook.

"We are shocked and sad to report that Butch Trucks, one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers, has passed away at the age of 69.  We will repost the official press release when we get it. Sorry to be the bearer of such sad news."  the post reads.

An official statement has not been made at this time but we expect one soon. According to Jambase, friends and family have posted about the tragic news as well.
Butch Trucks was born Claude Hudson Trucks in Jacksonville Florida on May 11, 1947. He went on to become a founding member of the Allman Brothers band in 1969. Butch was the one mainstay in the historic bands long career until they retired in 2014.
The news is a surprise as he has been active playing live with two different bands and rumored to play in An Allman Brothers Band Reuion soon.  Our heart  goes out to his family, friends and many fans. This year is not starting any better than last year. Rest Easy,

Amazon acquired A Long Strange Trip. It will premiere on Amazon Prime on May 26th as a six part miniseries.

The Amir Bar-Lev directed documentary about The Grateful Dead found a distributer ahead of its world premiere at Sundance next week. The highly anticipated movie produced by Martin Scorsese charts the rise of the band from the beginning in the Bay Area's electric 1960s counterculture to the rock n roll iconic status they enjoy today. The film includes archival photos, audio and video footage never before seen or heard. This highly anticipated movie will be a six part mini series and will be available to stream beginning May 26 on Amazon Prime.
