Bob Dylan Wins Nobel Prize for Literature.

Bob Dylan Wins Nobel Prize for Literature.

What has Bob Dylan not accomplished in the music world? He crossed the last honor off his list last night when he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. He is the first song writer to have this honor bestowed upon him. Dylan was awarded the prize for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".  We here at Grateful Music congratulate Bob Dylan for winning such an honor. His victory does not come without controversy. Here are two quotes from established authors. One in support and the other against. Writer Salman Rushdie also praised Dylan's win, saying: "From Orpheus to Faiz, song & poetry have been closely linked. Dylan is the brilliant inheritor of the bardic tradition.Great choice."

But Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh voiced his displeasure on Twitter, saying: "I'm a Dylan fan, but this is an ill conceived nostalgia award wrenched from the rancid prostates of senile, gibbering hippies."

The prize is given to someone who shows a lifetime of writing achievements, and Dylan certainly Fits that criteria.
