Hulaween 2016 - It’s the Cheesiest
Before the cold hits and they head back home, Colorado natives the String Cheese Incident have one more good time planned in the South. This weekend, October 28th - 30th, Hulaween returns for its 4th installment at Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. Unlike last year’s hugely successful--and hugely crowded--event, this year’s weekend is limited to 20,000 tickets. We hope you’ve got yours, but if you don’t there are still a few available. If you’ve got the time, the festival kicks off with a special pre-party on Thursday.
Like every weekend event at the park, the lineup is chock full of great acts you love, and plenty you’ve yet to discover. Some standouts for us here at Grateful Music are My Morning Jacket, Umphrey’s McGee, The Motet, Lettuce, Greensky Bluegrass, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Larry Keel & Drew Emmitt, The Revivalists, and of course, The String Cheese Incident. SCI, by the way, will be playing several sets throughout the weekend. This party goes on late into the night with a silent disco and a bluegrass jam in the woods featuring Stickley & Keel’s Guitar Freak Out, the Jon Stickley Trio, and The Grass is Dead.
In addition to the myriad musical performances, Hulaween has plenty of activities to keep you occupied. From yoga and meditation to dance and drum circles, there’s plenty to do. There are also lots of crafts and assorted foods available. And, don’t forget, this is a Halloween event! This year’s costume theme is “Stringier Things,” taking a cue from the popular series Stranger Things.
If you’ve never been to the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park, you’ll find plenty to do, exploring the more than 800 acres of Florida landscape peppered with trails and water. Camping is encouraged, so bring your tent and sleeping bag or, if you’re so inclined, bring your camper or RV. There are several sites available with power and water hookups.
