Bob Weir returns in Superhero like fashion, while leading the band through two amazing sets. Dead with Cheese ended the event heroically. Setlists & 411

Bob Weir returns in Superhero like fashion,  while leading the band through two amazing sets. Dead with Cheese ended the event heroically. Setlists & 411

Los Muertos con Queso came to an epic conclusion on Saturday night. Bob Weir returned to perform two powerhouse sets with Billy and his new project. Bob missed Friday nights show with food poisoning and Jackie Greene filled in.
String Cheese Incident started the last night off with two sets of amazing music. "Search" kicked off four magical sets by two bands in paradise. Life does not get much better than it was for the lucky fans on the beach on Saturday. Bobby returned  with the fitting opener "Playing in the Band"into "Terrapin Station". That is how the two guest filled sets went. Anthem after jewels into "Brother Essa". The destination concert ended like all events in life should with a "Brokedown Palace". I hope this band gets another chance to shine. I heard a good bit of the streams and color me impressed. The long strange trip just added another musical mile.

Los Muertos con Queso continued without Bob Weir.

Los Muertos con Queso continued without Bob Weir.

Los Muertos con Queso continued on Thursday  with a full portion of cheese but without Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir. He was supposed to perform two sets with his newest band but the performance went out without Weir who according to Bill Kreutzmann Bob was suffering  from food poisoning.

Thursday’s entertainment began  with an afternoon set from The String Cheese Incident. SCI continued their flawless playing from new years and delivered  sets that included takes on “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues,” "Miss Brown's Teahouse" and a tribute to Butch Trucks with a touching cover of "Jessica".

The new band who already performed yesterday took the stage with Jackie Greene as the front man and no Bob Weir in site. Actually,  Billy did not explain his absence until late in the show. The show went on with visitors such as Kyle and Jason. They delivered two smoking sets regardless.  We can only hope that Bob Weir feels up to the next performance.

The Life of a Ticket Bot Journal Entry "Today was to Cheesy"

The Life of a Ticket Bot
Journal Entry #986768
Star Date 1-13-2017
“Today was to Cheesy”

I was built by my creator and I have only one operating function. My job is to buy as many tickets to any given event as possible. For this I am very misunderstood. Even the President hates me.  My designer must really enjoy all these human gatherings because I have countless co-bots all with the same operating systems. We buy tickets at lighting speed or we get replaced. Lights out! Some days my job is stressful , especially when the outlet selling the tickets does not want my master to attend their events. They set up obstacles to slow my progress or try new tricks to keep me from doing my job. This hurts! Buying these tickets is the only reason I exist and failure is not an option. That is why my master is overjoyed this morning, he must love cheese because we bought all the tickets to attend special intimate shows. They are going to be very exclusive, in fact by my calculations, only my master and his 600 closest friends will attend most shows. For this I am hated on social media and if I was programmed to give a shit, I am sure I would. But I am a simple bot and I do not. Damn it feels good to be a gangster. Ha…..Ha. End Entry

The String Cheese Incident turns in an Incredible Performance over Three Nights that Culminates in an Amazing New Year's Eve Masterpiece. Words by Kevin Long Photos by: Emily Takacs

The String Cheese Incident turns in an Incredible Performance over Three Nights that Culminates in an Amazing New Year's Eve Masterpiece. Words by Kevin Long Photos by: Emily Takacs

The String Cheese Incident performed masterfully as they welcomed the New Year with three hometown shows. In what has become a holiday tradition for S.C.I and their fans, the band has played at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado for five years running.. This run, to my ears’ delight, sounded far superior than years past and the music has not shined this bright in a decade. They blended covers, new material and treasured gems beautifully to produce three amazing, albeit different, shows.

The boys kicked off the festivities with an adventurous “Round the Wheel”. The majority of hesitation anybody had about Kyle’s broken wrist disappeared has the music did not leave another option.

Beside the light-hearted version of “Master Blaster” with Jason on lead vocals the entire first set was the stuff of legend. The “Miss Brown’s Teahouse” into “Rollover” that concluded the initial set of music was mesmerizing. The music bled into a full fledged Star Wars jam honoring the passing of Carrie Fisher.

The second set was a Big Gigantic Incident as the boys were joined by familiar faces Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken of “Big Gigantic”. This led to adventurous versions of Cheese classics as the majority of tunes were woven together by Big Gigantic musical hooks. The rollercoaster started on “Bam” and stopped nearly two hours later with an epic “Desert Dawn” that had the tired faithful dancing to the end of a rousing triple encore that began with “Rosie”. S.C.I. made a profound musical statement on the first night of the run and what followed was joyous every bit as genius.

The second night began with an aggressive ”One Step Closer” and the night unfolded like magical 12-30th shows from the past. It had Bust-outs like “When the music over”, “Land’s End” and “Shaking the Tree”. It had a surprising debut in the form of “Nothing but Flowers” by The Talking Heads. Most importantly the band played flawlessly whether Michael Kang shined while delivering his classics or Billy picked his acoustic during “Restless Wind”.

The entire band practiced patience the entire run which led to inspiring improvisation by every member which in turn produced authentic jams. This was on full display during the explosive show the boys delivered on this, the second evening. The crowd piled out of the arena with shit eating grins also knowing we still had another show of our band firing on every cylinder the following evening.

Nobody in the sold out arena had any doubt that the hometown boys would not deliver anything short of a spectacle for New Year's Eve. Whatever brought you to the 1st Bank Center on N.Y.E, S.C.I produced it in spades. The music was breathtaking for three sets, the special effects were explosive, daring and original. Some moments are best seen than explained, so enjoy the official video of the physodelic ball drop.

It was a perfect evening. The elusive “San Jose” started off the holiday in a fitting manner. Over the course of the next five hours the String Cheese Incident delivered a special performance and nothing has sounded sweeter in the new year in a long time. They will be in Mexico in a few weeks and have already announced a spring tour full of intimate venues. The future has not looked this bright for this band in a long time. Happy New Year? Damn Right!

String Cheese Incident and Big Gigantic Performed a legendary danceparty. Watch Complete Set. Setlist

String Cheese Incident and Big Gigantic Performed a legendary danceparty. Watch the Complete Set. Video,Setlist and 411

String Cheese Incident started their New Year's celebration with two solid sets of music on Thursday night.  The first being a String Cheese Incident of the highest order. Kyle's broken wrist while obvious at first, eventually the music and his abilities compensated for the handicap in inventive ways. The highlight of the first half was a "Star Wars" tribute sandwiched between a exploratory "Miss Brown's Teahouse". The second half was billed A Big Gigantic Incident and that is what the enthusiastic crowed received. It was one hell of a danceparty with electriconic  versions of Cheese classics woven together by Big Gigantic hooks to great ends. The opening "Bam" which musically wove around "Big Gigantic's catolague to great ends is a perfect example of how the magically set transpired. Grateful Music will have plenty more coverage when I get my photos and time to put it all in perspective. I hope to see you tonight. Listen how S.C.I tracks from "Bollymunster " to "Rosie" joined with"Big Gigantic" tracks melting into musical bliss. Watch both songs here:

Here is the setlist and stay tuned for plenty more coverage as the fun has just begun!

Nothing Like a little Jack in your Queso: Jackie Greene Added to the Los Muertos con Queso Festival

In a move that surprises no one, one more badass is added to the already loaded festival at the Riviera Maya.
The festival is already going to be one of the hottest festivals coming up. Now they've added Jackie just in case the recipe wasn't hot enough for you. The south of the border will see this wonderful festival from January 25-28 and features headline sets from Bob Weir, String Cheese Incident, and the Chris Robinson Brotherhood. Jeff Chimenti and Billy the K will also be playing. Each of them will be joined by their bandmates in Dead and Company. Expect sit ins and all types of shenanigans if you make the trip down Mexico way.
Jackie plays his own solo set on the 27th but somehow I have a feeling it won't be just him. That's the same night that SCI plays two sets. As if the lineup needed any help, Jackie Greene is always a great addition to any lineup.
Once again, the Los Muertos Con Queso festival runs from the 25th to the 28th of January of next year, so grab tickets now because it's just around the corner.
