   Los Muertos con Queso came to an epic conclusion on Saturday night. Bob Weir returned to perform two powerhouse sets with Billy and his new project. Bob missed Friday nights show with food poisoning and Jackie Greene filled in. 

    String Cheese Incident started the last night off with two sets of amazing music. "Search" kicked off four magical sets by two bands in paradise. Life does not get much better than it was for the lucky fans on the beach on Saturday. Bobby returned  with the fitting opener "Playing in the Band"into "Terrapin Station". That is how the two guest filled sets went. Anthem after jewels into "Brother Essa". The destination concert ended like all events in life should with a "Brokedown Palace". I hope this band gets another chance to shine. I heard a good bit of the streams and color me impressed. The long strange trip just added another musical mile.

Los Muertos con Queso continued without Bob Weir. 

 

 Los Muertos con Queso continued on Thursday  with a full portion of cheese but without Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir. He was supposed to perform two sets with his newest band but the performance went out without Weir who according to Bill Kreutzmann Bob was suffering  from food poisoning. 

Thursday’s entertainment began  with an afternoon set from The String Cheese Incident. SCI continued their flawless playing from new years and delivered  sets that included takes on “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues,” "Miss Brown's Teahouse" and a tribute to Butch Trucks with a touching cover of "Jessica". 

The new band who already performed yesterday took the stage with Jackie Greene as the front man and no Bob Weir in site. Actually,  Billy did not explain his absence until late in the show. The show went on with visitors such as Kyle and Jason. They delivered two smoking sets regardless.  We can only hope that Bob Weir feels up to the next performance.

     Sweetwater Brewing company already had an impressive marquee for the 2017 edition of SweetWater 420 Fest at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, Georgia. The event added a diverse second wave of artist to join the big names revealed earlier. Joining four sets of W.S.P, two sets of T.A.B , Ween and Slightly Stoopid is a bevy of acts with something for every musical pallet. 

 

  Jamband staples moe. and Jackie Greene join a diverse group of acts to join the festival set to take place on April 21-23. Besides the music 420 festival includes many rare beers and interacting with brewers in the SweetWater Experience Tent. Nothing Like a little Jack in your Queso: Jackie Greene Added to the Los Muertos con Queso Festival

  In a move that surprises no one, one more badass is added to the already loaded festival at the Riviera Maya.

The festival is already going to be one of the hottest festivals coming up. Now they've added Jackie just in case the recipe wasn't hot enough for you. The south of the border will see this wonderful festival from January 25-28 and features headline sets from Bob Weir, String Cheese Incident, and the Chris Robinson Brotherhood. Jeff Chimenti and Billy the K will also be playing. Each of them will be joined by their bandmates in Dead and Company. Expect sit ins and all types of shenanigans if you make the trip down Mexico way.

Jackie plays his own solo set on the 27th but somehow I have a feeling it won't be just him. That's the same night that SCI plays two sets. As if the lineup needed any help, Jackie Greene is always a great addition to any lineup. 

Once again, the Los Muertos Con Queso festival runs from the 25th to the 28th of January of next year, so grab tickets now because it's just around the corner.

      Jackie Greene played The Warfield last night for the first time as it hosted his hometown birthday show. It has become tradition over the last few years. He always celebrates his birthday with a bunch of talented friends. This year he gave all of us a present when Bobby and Phil shared the stage for only the second time since Fare Thee Phil. Everyone that is familiar with our musical sandbox knows that we love The Kid. He turned 36 and is already a savant. The last few years he has been focusing on his talented career with his band and they never have sounded better. Its tough to turn down the big money, but I have been thrilled he stopped playing hired gun for a bit. Last night besides Bobby Weir and Phil Lesh, Jackie was joined by Jason Crosby, Mark Karan, Ross James and the angelic voice of Nicki Bluhm. His brother Alex Nelson played keys on Scarlett>Fire and quickly it became obvious why he was never invited before tonight. I am only half kidding, he did not make a fool of himself but I don't see the brothers making music together except on holidays. 

    It was a three magestic sets with my only complaint being the lack of Jackie originals. He played a few, but instead he performed more covers including a tasty "Medicated Goo" that would make any Traffic fan smile. The three sets including an acoustic set and ended with a inspired Grateful Dead set.

      Jackie Greene will celebrate his 36 th birthday tomorrow night with his first show at The Warfield. Over the course of the last couple of years his birthday shows have been known for the many special guests. This year will be no exception. Bob Weir and Phil Lesh are both confirmed to join The Jackie Greene Band. 

 

 Besides Lesh and Weir, Nicki Bluhm, Mark Karan and Ross James are expected to be on hand. Its hard to believe that such a talent is only turning 36. Tickets are available via AXS.

        Let's hope this dynamic duo announce more than a pair of dates. These  intimate shows by Jackie Greene and Anders Osborne are being coined"Sitting Around Singing some Songs: An acoustic evening".  They have only confirmed two dates thus far: January 13 at Club Red in Telluride, Co and the 14th at The State Room in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am confident they will announce more shows soon. I am even more sure that if they don't annouce more dates that I will have a pretty drive come January.

Can't Stop the Train- A Tribute to Jerry Garcia has added a Vet to the Lineup: San Francisco Giants' Jake Peavy Teams Up with Phil for a Wonderful Night of Music to Honor Jerry and his Legacy.

Can't Stop the Train-A Tribute to Jerry Garcia hosted by the Jake Peavy Foundation and the Rex Foundation has a new special guest added to a heavy hitting lineup.

The Jake Peavy Foundation is joining with the Rex Foundation to hold a benefit at the Fillmore in San Francisco on Wednesday August,17th at 9:00 pm.  Jake Peavy, one of the starting pitchers for the Giants and massive Deadhead has announced that they are going to be joined by Phil Lesh to round out an incredible lineup of music. Proceeds are going to both foundations and to help The Larkin Street Youth Services, which has helped 75,000 at-risk youths in San Francisco, while honoring the memory of Jerry Garcia.
