Soul Princess Sharon Jones passed away at the age of 60
The magnificent Soul Princess is gone. " She sang a little while then flew off". Sharon Jones lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, passing away at the age of 60. She died yesterday at a New York hospital with her family and bandmates at her side. Her band the “Dap-Kings” defined the sound of soul. The year of death swallows another musician whose talents knew no ends. She recorded six records with the “ Dap Kings” and they were huge hits with the critics and fellow musicians alike. But they never led to big commercial success. She was revered for her amazing live performances and in 2006 her band backed Amy Winehouse on her breathtaking debut album “Back in Black”. She also won over the hearts of Phish fans by lending her vocals to Phish's performance of "Exile on Main Street" at Festival 8. She later joined the band and made "Suzy Greenberg" all hers.
The cruel year of 2016 claims another heavenly voice. Rest Easy, Sharon.
