Umphrey's McGee is always on the cutting edge of technology that helps knock down the invisible wall between themselves and their fanbase. Now they have dived head first into Virtual Reality.
U.M. paired with digital studio Reel FX to make an experimental virtual reality
occurrence. The finished VR video for "Puppet String" recently nominated for Best interactive video at Austin Film Festival. Manager of U.M., Kevin Browning was excited for Umphrey's fans to explore the band in a whole new way. Kudos to Umphrey's Mcgee for always pushing the boundaries. Enjoy the band in pure 360 view. The VR “Puppet String” video can be viewed on Samsung VR using Gear VR, or Oculus Rift and HTC Vive using Virtual Desktop. Viewers using Chrome or the YouTube 360° app can look around as well on the video below, or strap on a VR headset like Google Cardboard with headphones. Take a look:
