SpiritSphere - Pong meets Zelda in this rather lovely Indie game

Earlier last week Eendhoorn released the competitive local multiplayer game ' SpiritSphere ' for the PC. It looks to have a number of inspirations from classic games such as Pong, Zelda and even Windjammers while mixing them up to create something rather unique and enjoyable to play. Featuring an 8-bit art style that sticks closely to the NES colour palette and a great soundtrack by Gas1312,

Cat Quest - In development Atari 2600 homebrew looks to impress

With all the games that come and go through Indie Retro News, there's always one that amazes us. This is especially true of ' Cat Quest ' developed for the Atari 2600 by Alp, which started as an idea to port a cancelled NES game of his to the Atari 2600, just for fun. Currently at an early work in progress state, Cat Quest uses a ' Venetian Blinds ' Interlacing Technique that according to him,

The game I'm going to talk about is ' Legend of Xenia ' developed by Baku for the #LOWREZJAM 2016. Which as you guessed it, is a retro-inspired game but with an open-world and game play style similar to Zelda, but with a tiny resolution of just 64x64 pixels. Oh

This is 100% NES authentic, save for some new tiles and animations from the Zelda classic 2.5 set.

Shipwreck - Bit of a Zelda fan? You might enjoy this one!

I thought to myself today it's been awhile since we had any Zelda style games on Indie Retro News, but thankfully I came across one that doesn't look half bad and it is only priced at $2.99. Welcome to ' Shipwreck ' by Bushfire Games; a top down adventure game in which you must travel the land, explore dungeons, and defeat monsters to earn safe passage off the island on which you are stranded!

Oubliette - A new Amiga top down dungeon crawler with a famous sprite!

Just as I was about to sit down and watch a damn fine movie, along comes another Amiga game that I just had to mention! This is ' Oubliette ' by James Wilkinson; a brand new Amiga game that has been in development for the last few weeks and has only since been uploaded to Aminet. According to the developer this game is an 8-bit randomised dungeon crawler with lots of sword slashing, fireballs
