SpiritSphere - Pong meets Zelda in this rather lovely Indie game
Earlier last week Eendhoorn released the competitive local multiplayer game ' SpiritSphere ' for the PC. It looks to have a number of inspirations from classic games such as Pong, Zelda and even Windjammers while mixing them up to create something rather unique and enjoyable to play. Featuring an 8-bit art style that sticks closely to the NES colour palette and a great soundtrack by Gas1312,

Tetris Mix - 1980's Tetris classic comes over to the Pico-8 as a first preview!
One of the most popular games of all time was a tile-matching, block rotating puzzle video game first released in 1984 which became a huge hit on the Gameboy in 1989. It just had to be the classic 'Tetris'; a game that caused many people to spend hours playing to the point of addiction. Although we've had numerous clones over the years some of them good and some of them rather bad, today's

Unknown Realm - A drool worthy 8-bit styled RPG via Kickstarter campaign is a success
This did not come as a surprise to me, considering how good this retro styled RPG looked for both C64 and PC, as Unknown Realm - The Siege Perilous by Stirring Dragon Games is a Kickstarter success raising $65,887 pledged of $65,536 goal (19 days still to go). Again as mentioned before this is an RPG that has the look of one of the best RPG's ever released on the C64 as Ultima IV, while also

Unknown Realm - This RPG via Kickstarter for C64 and PC looks gorgeous!
In the 80's many of us had the pleasure of playing Ultima IV on the C64, it was arguably one of the best RPG's ever released for the Commodore and featured a top down playing field with lush landscapes, dungeons to explore, characters to traverse with and many enemies to fight. It was no wonder that many would class the 80's to the 90's as the golden age of RPG's and that's before the love of

Kingdoms and Castles - A charming city builder aims for a Steam Greenlight success
When I was but a young gamer one of my most favourite pass times was to build mighty castles, look after my villagers with food and housing, and defend them from attacking foes. This is probably why I was so hooked on games such as Castles and even The Settlers. So to find a game that is very similar but with dragons and vikings, in a world of charming detail I just had to give it a mention.

OverBite - A charming platformer with a bite gets a Steam Greenlight campaign (+Demo)
Ladies and Gentlemen Dracula is back and this time he's just a little bit annoyed! Developed by Hotdog Laser, Dracula has returned from his grave after a long recovery at the defeat at the hands of the legendary vampire hunter Van Helsing. The problem is what was once a menacing character of evil, has pretty much been turned into a laughing stock, with cartoons, plushies and t-shirts. So it's

Warlock Revenge - A first person shooter inspired by DOS classics aims for a Greenlight success
To be honest although I do play the odd modern day first person shooter such as DOOM or Battlefield 4, I'm still a huge fan of those retro classics such as Blake Stone or even Wolfenstein 3D, which are both playable through Dosbox. So it came as a surprise to me to learn of a new first person shooter aiming for a Steam Greenlight success, that is inspired by those classics but with a dark

This is Donkey-Me which is intended to be a collection of games, each of them inspired in a classic movie but with a Nintendo's Donkey Kong arcade game look. This is of course "Donkey Me Raiders of the Lost
