Joe Russo's Almost Dead Started the Party a Night early. Full Audio, Setlist and 411

J-RAD is the first band in my opinion that do not deserve the burden of Greatful Dead tribute band anywhere near their description. In Port Chester, New York at The Capital Theatre last night they added some more tunes that fall under the term"almost". Besides playing a Beatle and Ween song for the first time they had guests join them none more stunning that vocalist Alecia Chakour rendition of "Two Souls in a Communion".  Thanks to Jambase we have full audio and videos from nugs.net

Bob Weir joins JRADs Almost Dead for an acoustic set at last night show

Bob Weir joins JRADs Almost Dead for an acoustic set at last night show

Video of Hard Rain A-Gonna Fall

Bob Weir joined Almost Dead last night for an acoustic segment at The Fox Theatre in Oakland. I am sure Scott and Bobby are rehearsing for the Mexico concerts and being ex-bandmates with founder Joe Russo it was just a matter of time before Bobby sat in. They did not invent the acoustic segment just for the Bobby guest appearance, they explored with it recently at the Brooklyn Bowl. Although I wonder if Bobby could have kept up?

Joe Russo's Almost Dead Release All Three Soundboards from this Weekend's Masterpiece.

Joe Russo's Almost Dead Release All Three Soundboards from this Weekend's Masterpiece. Listen Here!

There is no denying the magic that JRAD posseses. They have transcended what I thought a cover band could accomplish. I think Tom Hamilton's addition in Bobby and Billy's new band is just more validation, but to the band's growing fanbase the verdict has been in for some time. This past weekend at the Brooklyn Bowl for "Fall Ball 2"they pulled off a three night masterpiece. From John Mayer sitting in for a complete set to the near perfect 27 minute acoustic Terrapin Station Suite, this weekend had it all. Thanks to JRAD and Live For Live Music we have the soundboards from all three nights. I know what I will be listening to on my way to work this week.

Bob Weir Campfire Tour is  heading its way to the east coast stopping in Upper Darby, Penn. last night. He changed up the Setlist quite a bit. This band is sounding amazing. Joe Russo and Tom Hamilton from JRAD joined the band for a super size "Not Fade Away". Watch

Joe Russo announces his NYE dates for Almost Dead

Almost Dead announces their dates and location for New Year's Eve Festivities.

Almost Dead is playing a night at the Brooklyn Bowl on December 29th and finishing off the year at the Capitol Theater in December on the 30 and 31st.

Joe Russo's project is one of the best Dead cover bands out there with Marco Benevento, Scott Metzger, Tom Hamilton and Dave Dreiwitz, so check them out. You can do plenty worse in New York than seeing one of the best bands touring.

Joe Russo, Oteil Burbridge And Marco Benevento Were Better Than I Dreamed. Watch Complete Show !

The inaugural and possibly only RB&B super group was a musical masterpiece. This improbable trio shared the stage and marquee only after Greg Allman had to cancel due to his well documented health issues. Whoever came up with this idea to fill the spot deserves the day off work today because is was lighting in a bottle for just over 80 minutes. Oteil was right at home with the celebrated duo. Even inspiring a good portion of the music. Luckily,  this lighting in a bottle can be watched from a side stage video. Thanks to Jambase we get to share it with the world. One can only hope they cross paths again.
