  Jake Cinninger must have dined with Bob Weir because he has a "wicked flu" and U.M. reported yesterday he would be out indefinitely. His absence unfortunately will include the impending improvisation set with Jason Redman. Unlike fans stuck in Mexico, where it was a no brainier to continue the Dead scheduled show with Jackie Greene filling in. This however is a different situation entirely with some fans expressing negative  feelings on how Umphrey's McGee handled Jake's illness. They would have preferred to postpone a few shows, especially the highly anticipated improve show until Jake was feeling better. Well thanks to Jambase you can watch a few songs from last night's show and make up your own mind. Joshua Redman sat in last night and will again be with the band tonight for the all improvisation set. How did Brandan Bayliss sound as the only guitarist? I personally find it interesting but I was not planning on attending any of the effected shows. Personally, I can sympathize with all parties involved but at the end of the day...... The show must go on! Umphrey's McGee honored Butch Trucks by performing"Jessica" and also mixed up the setlist to keep things interesting. I know those in attendance had no arguments during the dub version of "Breathe". Tonight will be some shit!

     I have to be completely honest, I actually got a little excited when I heard that W.S.P were going to start light duty in 2017. It's not that I wish evil on W.S.P 's fans, it's just I love Herring and think of him more than a hired gun. His announcement today is exactly the reason, celerbrated guitarist Jimmy Herring announced that he has formed a new band. Jimmy Herring & The Invisible Whip. It's not clear if its a separate project than his duel tour with John McLaughlin. However this could be the band he will use. The members include longtime A.R.U. and Jazz is Dead bandmate Jeff Sipe on drums, Kevin Scott on bass, familiar keyboardist Matt Slocum and Jason Crosby rounds out this talented band. Stay tuned for some Grateful Music.

Los Muertos con Queso continued without Bob Weir. 

 

 Los Muertos con Queso continued on Thursday  with a full portion of cheese but without Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir. He was supposed to perform two sets with his newest band but the performance went out without Weir who according to Bill Kreutzmann Bob was suffering  from food poisoning. 

Thursday’s entertainment began  with an afternoon set from The String Cheese Incident. SCI continued their flawless playing from new years and delivered  sets that included takes on “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues,” "Miss Brown's Teahouse" and a tribute to Butch Trucks with a touching cover of "Jessica". 

The new band who already performed yesterday took the stage with Jackie Greene as the front man and no Bob Weir in site. Actually,  Billy did not explain his absence until late in the show. The show went on with visitors such as Kyle and Jason. They delivered two smoking sets regardless.  We can only hope that Bob Weir feels up to the next performance.
