The only crime committed Saturday at yet another beautiful day of music at LOCKN' was only letting Phil and Friends play one set. The inagurial line up of Page McConnell, Jon Fishman, Joe Russo, Anders Osbourne and the entire Infamous Stringdusters demanded as much. Before it was over Derek Trucks and his lovely wife came to the party with grand results.
I loved the early country feeling present during "Dire Wolf through "Sugaree". But then it got severely nasty with an Anders Osbourne leading the band through an experimental "Shakedown Street". The "Terrapin Station" that followed and closed the interesting set was the reason we attend festivals and travel. It was perfect!
Today's lineup promises to have more than than just a touch of the blues with Gary Clark JR. joining Phil for the first time. It promises to be another eventful day at LOCKN'. Phil with a side of Phish is why the festival shines best.
