In 1990 and onwards the epic scrolling shooter game 'Raiden' by Seibu Kaihatsu, made its appearance on many different systems such as the Atari Falcon, Atari Jaguar, Atari Lynx, DOS(PC), PC Engine and even the PlayStation. In fact there was even a prototype of the game released as a demo on the Commodore Amiga, which sadly never appeared as a full release. But don't get your hopes up too much

I thought it time to mention a bit of Atari news for tonight, much to the delight of AtariCrypt. Yes you guessed it, that classic racing game known as Outrun which was a huge hit in the 1980's in the Arcades and ported over

It's the Atari's time to shine as another game has been given the port treatment and it's the Arcade game ' Bosconian ' developed by Namco all the way back in 1981. Currently available as a work in progress for the Atari 8bit by shanti77. 2017 Retro Calendar by ChinnyVision.

Youtuber ChinnyVision, who specializes in reviewing games from the golden 8-bit generation, has produced a rather neat and tidy 2017 retro themed calendar. Featuring many of the 8-bit systems of the 80's, each month highlights a classic game such as Chase HQ or Bomb Jack 2, and how it looked on different formats of the day. As an Amstrad fan, Chinny gives the CPC a lot of coverage, but

DreadStar - A wicked PC shoot em up that's in development with ZX Spectrum tunes!

Growing up there was nothing more satisfying than playing top down scrolling shoot em ups such as the fantastic classic Tyrian 2000, which is also available on GOG. I'm also a bit of a sucker for bullet hell shooters that just don't stop with the constant flood of bullets across your gaming screen. But this game ' DreadStar 'by AugmentedIrreality takes the best out of this genre, adds a few

A coder/developer by the name of Douglas Little (aka dml) is developing a new game engine for the Atari STE which creates the groundwork for an ultra smooth screen
