Day 3 of the "Days Between" Grateful Dead Musical Retrospective: Today's Special- 11-8-70 w/ NRPS

This was another tough call because one, there are many classic shows in 1970 and two,  there are tons of AUDs and not too many SBDs. The year of 1970 showed the transition from psychedelic juggernaut to America's weirdest roots band. They could still turn on the jams though. I thought about putting up the 2/13 show but this year has been pretty well picked over by Dick and Dave. In fact, the new Dave's Pick 19 comes from this year. So this is an outstanding AUD that shows how well it can sound when a taper know what he is doing.

   

1970 was the year the boys were joined on tour by the New Rider of the Purple Sage. The year of epic, staggeringly long shows. Early and late shows for most of the tour were a normal thing. This one happens to have some special events during it. Including, the last "Operator", "Wake Up, Little Susie" and "The Main Ten" aka (early Playin'). It also contains the only "My Babe" and Mystery Train". Finally, it contains the first "Around and Around". The most widely heard shows of this year have been the Fillmore East and FIllmore West shows that are absolutely stunning but this one is a must hear as well, so on to the show. Let's Go!
