Day Four of the "Days Between" Musical Retrospective. Today is a show from my favorite year: 3-21-73.

This show has some stiff competition as the whole year is full of gems. My personal favorite is 11-21-73 but it was released as Road Trips Vol.4 Number 3. So I decided to go a little deeper and found this gem. Personally, I love the way the band in 73' would swing. This freedom is mainly because of just having one drummer and also the jazzy, amazingly telepathic connection between Jerry and Keith. This show is one of the best of a 5-star year, that hasn't been officially released. Curtis Dixon Hall in Dec. and Denver and the Dick's Picks. One from Dane County in Madison,WI and 2/26 &2/28 from Pershing and Salt Lake City. The two Boston Music Hall shows that were bookended by Morning Dew are all top-notch shows. Still, From spring to winter, the whole year is full of ten's
So let's get on with the show.
The hardest part about choosing these shows are the embarrassment of riches that the band had during the 70's and 80's. I skipped 72' because most of the best shows have been heard. I love the jazzy sound of 73' and the way the band could turn on a dime. So much has been made of the Fall/Winter tours that I decided a spring show would be a nice change. With that being said, an 8 out of 10 show is still a great show but this is a 10 for all but the snobbiest fan. I could've put up Curtis Dixon Hall again but what's the point of putting up things that have already been released.
Support the band and buy the Dicks/Dave's Picks and the Road Trips and you won't be disappointed. Just don't complain you can't download from the archive because 1. we are lucky to be allowed to hear these anytime we want to for free 2.) There are plenty of torrent sites with theses shows on them, and finally 3.) you can record from the archive if you have the even the most basic computer skills.(Rant Over)
