Tea Leaf Green has been a staple on the jam scene forever. Reed Mathis joined the band about nine years ago and his immense talent on bass help propel the band to the next level of success and they blossomed into regulars on the festival circuit. I am sure it's no coincidence that this announcement follows the debut of Reed Mathis' new band Electric Beethoven's inaugural live performance and news they have an album in the works. This break up seemingly took longer than my divorce as Mathis is also in Billy and The Kids and Golden Gate Wingman. He also has played with Steve Kimock and a host of other musicians that were not Tea Leaf Green. Even though Reed was not a founding member of T.L.G, they are going to have an almost impossible task of replacing one of the hottest bass players in the scene today. His career is burning brighter than ever, however Tea Leaf Green has already announced his replacement with talented journeymen Eric DiBerardina. This talented player is not new to T.L.G,'s catalog of music and he has been filling in during the break up process. They also have booked a tour and already are doing dates. I wish both parties the best in their future endeavours.

Here is a statement from Tea Leaf Green's website and tour dates.
After nearly nine years and four genre-spanning albums, Tea Leaf Greenand bassist Reed Mathis have decided to part creative ways. Reed joined us at a pivotal period in the life of our band, and we are forever grateful to him for the integral role he filled in TLG and for the collaborator and friend he has become. Reed has a unique musical voice, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors, the latest of which are the visionary Electric Beethoven project and Golden Gate Wingmen. Check 'em out!
We look forward to the next chapter in our history and will commence this new phase with a run of East Coast shows in October. Joining us on this tour will be beloved Bay Area bassist Eric DiBerardino.
Leafers, thank you for your continued support throughout the evolution of the band.
We can't wait to see you out there on the road!
